MORALISTS AT A COSTUME PARTY

Lady Godiva (/ɡəˈdaɪvə/; died between 1066 and 1086), in Old English Godgifu, was a late Anglo-Saxon noblewoman who is relatively well documented as the wife of Leofric, Earl of Mercia, and a patron of various churches and monasteries. Today, she is mainly remembered for a legend dating back to at least the 13th century, in which she rode naked – covered only in her long hair – through the streets of Coventry to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation that her husband, Leofric, imposed on his tenants.

The name ''Peeping Tom'' for a voyeur originates from later versions of this legend, in which a man named Thomas watched her ride and was struck blind or dead. (source Wikipedia)

In late September 2020 Reba Maybury was sitting inside a boarding room of an airport on Her way to an artist residency. The flight was delayed and another passenger, who was a man, wanted to engage with Her. Upon sizing the man up she decided he seemed fine to talk to and when disclosing Her reason for travel and what Her 'work is about' to the average man, he became engrossed which bored Maybury. He went on to discuss that he was ready to understand women now that his children had grown up and that his mother was cold. Once on the plane, he swapped seats to be close to Her. Maybury decided to fall asleep as the idea of three hours of small talk was not offensive to her but was simply dull.

On arrival they were separated at the airport. Early the next morning the man arrived at Maybury's friends gallery in the new city. Her friend alerted Her to his apparent desperate and flustered hunt for Her. Maybury opened Her phone to find various attempts of communication with Her although She had avoided his attempts to get Her phone number.

This was when She discovered that he had posted a photo of Her sleeping on the plane to his social media. When confronting him about it he told Her it was a beautiful photo. It received one like.
